The Hymn Society of Great Britain and Ireland Annual Conference – Bishop Burton College
Our Annual Conference this year will be another three-day occasion from Tuesday, July 24th – Friday, July 27th 2018. The venue will be the delightful setting of Bishop Burton College. It is a pleasantly situated land-based college offering courses as diverse as agriculture, floristry, equine, art and design, and engineering! Located just outside the town of Beverley with its minster, York is also not too distant. Booking form is available here.

Information about the Conference
Our 2018 three day Conference will be held in the delightful setting of Bishop Burton College. Located just outside the town of Beverley it is a pleasantly situated land-based college offering courses as diverse as agriculture, floristry, equine, art and design, and engineering! There is good parking for cars. The nearest train station is Beverley where taxis are available. York is not too distant and a bus ride from near the train station takes just over an hour. Conference begins on Tuesday 24th July (Registration from 2.00 pm). It concludes with lunch on Friday 27th July. Accommodation is single rooms only but all en-suite. The Conference Pack, including the Conference Programme, a list of those attending, and other papers, will be sent out early July. Our Chaplains this year are Gordon and Hazel Taylor. The Festival of Hymns is in St Michael & All Angels Parish Church, Cherry Burton. The commentator will be Martin Leckebusch, organist, Nicholas Page and Conductor, Ian Sharp. There will be an outing to Beverley Minster.

There will be a Short Metre (10 mins) and Sectionals (30 mins). If you would like to be considered for either of these please contact the Secretary’. The Outing to Beverley Minster is on Thursday; indicate on the Booking Form if you would like the additional Organ tour.
The cost for residents will be £270.00. Non-Members will be charged £290.00 but receive 12 months membership of the Society. The cost for Day-Visitors for the entire conference is £170.00, or charged pro-rata according to length of stay and events on each particular day (see back page of form;. Accommodation for additional nights either side of the conference is available: Bed and Breakfast £50.00 per person. Dinner is an additional £15.00. When booking, please state all your requirements clearly.
A limited number of bursaries are available for those who would otherwise find it difficult or impossible to attend. The Secretary can provide further information regarding applications for bursaries, which must be made by 31st March.
To register, please send a non-returnable deposit of £60.00 by 30th April. You must pay the balance by 31 st May. Cheques should be made payable to ‘The Hymn Society ’.
