Vintage Hymns singing day Salisbury

Vintage Hymns run events that aim to bring back the singing of these classic and wonderful hymns into people’s lives, from which they have often all but disappeared. The best hymn tunes and settings are specifically designed to be basically easy yet elegant and expressive.

“We love to sing below for mercies freely given;
But oh! we long to know the triumph-song of Heaven.”

Rev Sir Henry Williams Baker

The aim of the day is to revive the joy of singing hymns, especially in harmony. The afternoon will finish in a service of Evensong using hymns and settings that would have been typical for a parish church over the last 200 years.

Tickets: £15 if booked in advance, otherwise £20.

Includes teas and coffees, and Special Edition music book for the day.

Bring your own lunch to eat in the Village Memorial Hall or arrange your own lunch for 1pm in the nearby village pub The Malet Arms, Newton Tony (01980 629279 www.maletarms.co.uk) There will be a retiring collection for the benefit of St Andrew’s Church.
