German Hymn Evening

St Georges German Lutheran Chapel

Come and sing classics of German hymnody from Luther to Martin Bonhoeffer, led by Phil Price, Committee Member of the Hymn Society, and accompanied on the historic Walcker organ by James Carpenter FRCO.

St Georges German Lutheran Chapel (above) was the first purpose-built German church in England, dating from 1762-3. Its interior is largely unchanged since that time, including box pews and Lutheran preaching pulpit.

There will be a chorale performance by a choir, and a short talk by Prof Henrike Lähneman of Oxford University.

The event is a fundraiser for the chapel, costs £9 on the door, and includes cake and wine afterwards.
